Also, note that determinism does not imply fatalism. Fatalism, as it is usually understood, is the idea that, whatever you do, a certain outcome is inescapable. Determinism, however, states that outcomes are determined by the course of your actions/decisions and external events. Determinism implies evitability—that a rational agent equipped with useful mental models can evade certain outcomes—which is contrary to fatalism.
